UC SLC scholars have received grant funding from the Big Ideas Generator and the Urban Network to create a UChicago Science of Learning Network. The Network will bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss cutting edge research on learning and its implications for practice and to co-develop ideas for promising new interventions to improve learning. The network will convene monthly conversations among University of Chicago researchers, school-level leaders, and classroom teachers, each focused on a different aspect of student learning in grades PreK-2. The discussions will examine how research on learning can inform the design of new interventions to increase achievement for disadvantaged students in the core subject areas of language/literacy and mathematics. The ultimate goal is to develop an agenda for new, collaborative research comprised of a small number of compelling interventions that can be tested, refined, built into daily practice, and shared with others.
